English Courses
Salem Union has been running English courses in the city since it was founded in the late 1990s. These have always been high quality accessible TEFL courses for local people using established teaching materials and with native English speakers on the teaching staff.
The English course curriculum at the Social Village includes additional material to raise awareness of global issues such as poverty. We also encourage our students to take part in our social action projects by volunteering with us (see below).
Alongside our English Courses and the Conversation Clubs where students can practice conversational English with a native speaker, we teach Global Citizen Leadership classes in English. This is a further means of raising awareness of global issues and helping students to consider how they can respond to those in need around them.
